Acoma is the “People Of The White Rocks” and it is part of the Ancient Native American Pueblo tribes. This tribe lives in New Mexico and Arizona. Their tribe still exists today, mostly in the Hopi town of Orabi.
They made their homes out of adobe, which is a mud baked clay mixed with straw. Sometimes they would build their homes directly into the sides of cliffs. Their stone homes were helpful because the cool clay kept them comfortable in scorching desert heat, and also when they would get a storm their strong homes remained intact.
Acoma interactions with settlers.
Their culture was strong and they relied on their environment and available resources to survive. Some of the foods they ate include: corn, beans,and squash.
